Festivaltema 2023

14. – 15. oktober: AI

21. – 22. oktober: Natur

28- – 29. oktober: Demokrati

Over internasjonale 100 fotografer

View the full festival-programme here.

Democracy

Photojournalists risk their lives in the quest to document the largest crisis of our time? Right on the forefront, in the very eye of the storm can Pulitzer Prize-winner Lynsey Addario be found. Even if you do not know her name, you have seen her photos. Armed with only a camera, Addario has faced and documented warfare, natural disasters and human trafficking first-hand, thus risking her life in the process, to ensure eye-opening material for the rest of us to see.

Nature

Is it possible to create beautiful photography of the objects that kill life on earth? This is a question which has intrigued British photographer Mandy Barker to the point of it becoming her life’s work. By transforming plastic waste from the ocean into beautiful arrangements, Barker conveys the dangers of plastic waste for the natural life of both the land and ocean through her photography.

AI

To which degree can a photograph be trusted to depict a truth? Photography has always been an object for manipulation, which has never been as easily done as today. This question has greatly engaged Magnum-photographer Jonas Bendiksen, who has explored the topic through his work. His experiments with the manipulated photograph has managed to provoke and manipulate both his photograph-colleagues and the rest of the world, and for the first time ever, will the documentation of this experiment be showcased to the Norwegian audience in its entirety at Oslo Negativ.

This year's entirely unique venue, The old Faculty of Veterinary Medicine located at Adamstuen in Oslo, will provide sites never before seen associated with photography– or anything else for that matter. This will be the very first time that these protected buildings will be opened to the public.

Be sure to save the date: October 14.-19.!
